Singapore, 3 March 1999 | For Immediate Release

Lotus Development AP and the National Computer Board today announced the latest addition to Singapore ONE - Lotus Quickplace. Quickplace allows users within and between companies to instantly set up workgroups on the corporate intranet or the Internet.

Lotus will subsequently add an application developers' toolkit which will allow third party developers to add powerful broadband features. The addition of Quickplace will make Singapore ONE the premier platform for delivering multimedia services to users in Singapore.

"We are happy that Lotus is committed to adapting Quickplace to exploit Singapore ONE's broadband infrastructure. Singapore ONE users will now have additional applications that will help them go online and work together," said Mr Ng Kin Yee, NCB's Assistant Director, Programme Management Office and New Media.

With Lotus Quickplace, Singapore ONE users can easily set up a powerful, feature-rich environment to centrally communicate, share and organise information, documents and schedules. With its ease-of use and fast installation, Quickplace allows companies that do not have IT resources to immediately realise the benefits of collaboration without the restrictions of time and distance.

"Quickplace enables Singapore ONE users to collaborate and deliver projects quickly and easily," said Zacchaeus Boon, General Manager Singapore, Lotus Development. "This is the basis of the government's drive towards a knowledge-based economy - the ability to harness the information within our minds and translate it into something cohesive."

Lotus will develop a version of Quickplace on Domino Instant!Host software to be hosted on Singapore ONE as a subscription-based service. Subscribers can create a customised Quickplace, and use and pay for it for as long as needed. Users may access Quickplace through Netscape or MS Internet Explorer Release 4 or above, on Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT.
