Chai Yee Wei is a Singaporean filmmaker who started his career writing and shooting short films, which garnered attention in the local circuits for their quirkiness and dark subject matter. Blood Ties: The Short Film launched his filmmaking career when it was picked up by Oak3 Films and the Singapore Film Commission to be made into a full-length movie. The movie screened commercially in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. Yee Wei followed up with several features, such as Twisted, which was released in Singapore in August 2011, and That Girl in Pinafore in August 2013.

He also founded MochaChai Lab, a boutique digital film lab that is fully compliant with the DCI standard, to support film production work and to serve cinemas in the region.
