Akanga Film Asia | Production Company

Akanga Film Asia is an independent production company created in 2005 in Singapore to produce quality films by the new generation of Asian filmmakers. Our projects aim to create a cultural link between Asia and the rest of the world. Titles produced by Akanga include Ho Tzu Nyenʼs Here (Cannes Directorsʼ Fortnight 2009), Boo Junfengʼs Sandcastle (Cannes Criticsʼ Week 2010), Vladimir Todorovicʼs Disappearing Landscape (Rotterdam 2013), Christine Molloy & Joe Lawlorʼs Mister John (Edinburgh 2013), Lav Diazʼs A Lullaby To A Sorrowful Mystery (Berlin Competition 2016 – Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize), Boo Junfengʼs Apprentice (Cannes Un Certain Regard 2016, NETPAC Best Film Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival) and K. Rajagopalʼs A Yellow Bird (Cannes Criticsʼ Week 2016). In 2018, Yeo Siew Huaʼs A Land Imagined, a Singapore-French-Dutch co-production, won the Pardo dʼoro (Golden Leopard) at the Locarno Film Festival, the first ever Top Prize win for a Singapore film in any A-List festival.
