IMDA has expanded the SG Digital Scholarship to include a new focus area to develop world-class translational research capabilities in future communications. This is part of IMDA and National Research Foundation Singapore (NRF)’s previously launched Future Communications Research and Development Programme (FCP) on 13 July 2021, which aims to jumpstart cutting-edge communications and connectivity research. The aim of this new scholarship focus area is to grow local capability who are able to translate research into innovative products, services and companies. To strengthen talents in this area, the four-year FCP includes support for post-grad scholarships for local students to pursue research and translational projects related to future communications technologies (e.g. 5G technologies and beyond), from 2021 to 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Singaporean citizens;
  • Full-time or part-time Masters students enrolled degree programmes in the area of future communications offered by the 4 autonomous universities (AUs) namely NTU, NUS, SIT and SUTD; and
  • The recipient must not concurrently hold any other awards such as scholarships, grants or bursaries.

Scholarship Obligation

  • The recipient will have to meet minimal academic requirements for scholarship recipients as typically imposed by the AUs for other scholarship recipients. The recipient must fulfil the graduation requirements by 30 April 2025.
  • There is no bond attached to this scholarship.

Scholarship Coverage

Successful applicants will be given support for:

  • Tuition fees and Compulsory Miscellaneous Fees (CMF);
  • For full-time candidates will receive a monthly stipend aligned to prevailing rates set by MOE and University guidelines and employer’s share of the CPF contributions levied on the monthly stipend at the prevailing rates.
