What is it

The WritersLab: Script to Screen programme is a new initiative to provide WritersLab participants with opportunities to translate their stories to the screen. Selected participants will be able to collaborate with media platforms to have their story ideas or scripts produced into a pilot. The programme also provides a grant for the production of scripts.

WritersLab is an intensive 10-weeks scriptwriting programme which provides its participants the opportunity to sharpen their story development, scriptwriting and pitching skills.

As part of this year's WritersLab: Script to Screen programme, IMDA partnered video-on-demand service provider, HOOQ, to produce up to three scripts from the WritersLab programme. This partnership provides local media professionals with opportunities to work on quality productions, which further develops the capabilities of our local talent. Audiences can look forward to seeing these exciting productions in mid-2020.

In addition, HOOQ will also mentor WritersLab participants to understand how viewership data can be utilised for:

  • Making creative direction and business decisions
  • Understanding target audience
  • Reaching out to a regional audience

Who is it for
