The course is designed to highlight the complexities & interdependencies of the major items involved in the design, build & operation of a data centre. All the main topics are covered with an emphasis on delivering a comprehensive overview of this very complicated topic and how the component parts fit together. In addition to the key design considerations, the course also gives a good understanding of the governing bodies & organisations that are behind the industry, and that are creating the standards & regulations which will drive the industry forward.

From business justification through to commissioning & handover, the course will help the student to get a good understanding of the wide ranging topics which are involved in the data centre build process. The core technology topics of power, cooling, cable connectivity & IT are all discussed at length, along with all the other important areas such as site selection, architectural recommendations &supporting infrastructure technology.

Learning Outcome

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain data center technology advances throughout history, today’s challenges and today’s industry bodies, standards, regulations, definitions and metrics
