Wholesale Trade Industry Digital Plan

last updated 05 December 2018

The Wholesale Trade Industry Digital Plan (IDP) works as a guide for local SMEs in the Wholesale Trade industry to digitalise their businesses, plug skills gaps and participate in industry pilot projects.

SMEs in the Wholesale Trade industry can tap on pre-approved solutions to digitalise core business processes and optimise their resources, as well as to grow and scale up by using integrated services such as B2B marketplaces that connect them to the global trading ecosystem. The Wholesale Trade IDP is a step-by-step guide on the digital solutions that SMEs can use at each stage of their growth.

The Wholesale Trade IDP, aligned to the Wholesale Trade Industry Transformation Map launched in 2017, is part of the SMEs Go Digital Programme.

Basic Advisory

SMEs that wish to have a more comprehensive review of their business can approach the SME Centre business advisors for free business diagnosis and advisory on digital solutions relevant to their operations.

Specialist Consultancy

SMEs that require specialist consultancy on more advanced digital solutions will be referred by the SME Centre business advisors to the Principal Consultants at the SME Digital Tech Hub.

Project Management Services

SMEs can also engage Project Management Services to support them in the implementation of the digital solutions. The project managers can help with business processes re-engineering and job redesign to get the maximum benefits and have more sustainable outcomes from going digital.

To ease SMEs' adoption of digital technologies, IMDA has pre-approved solutions that are proven, robust and able to meet SMEs' business needs. SMEs requiring productivity tools can pick from the list of pre-approved solutions on Tech Depot and receive grant support under the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) for eligible projects.

For the list of pre-approved solutions supported under the Productivity Solutions Grant, visit the Tech Depot website.

SMEs can also participate in digital sector projects that are shaped jointly by IMDA and the industry leaders. Such projects pilot new digital solutions or platforms that have the potential to uplift the whole sector.

Aligned to the Industry Transformation Maps, Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) provides grant support for the adoption of IT solutions and equipment that have been pre-scoped by the industries' lead agencies. PSG also aims to better support businesses in the next phase of transformation, which may require more substantial investments and longer term commitments.

Businesses that wish to undertake productivity solutions will only need to apply for support under one grant scheme. As announced at Budget 2018, the support for pre-approved solutions under SMEs Go Digital is amongst the first few to be streamlined into PSG, which is available on the Business Grants Portal.

For the list of pre-approved solutions supported under PSG, visit the Tech Depot website.
