IMDA's Statement on MeWe Poll

SINGAPORE – 28 MAY 2021

A poll on local female asatizah (religious teachers), posted on the MeWe social media platform, promotes sexual violence or sexual activity involving coercion or non-consent. Such content is unacceptable and has no place in Singapore. IMDA has assessed it constitutes prohibited content under Singapore’s Internet Code of Practice.

IMDA has contacted MeWe to remove the offending poll if it still remains on its platform. IMDA has also contacted other social media platforms to ensure that the post does not surface on their platforms.
