Southeast Asia Operation

IMDA enjoys warm and friendly bilateral relations with countries in Southeast Asia, and we cooperate closely within ASEAN.  Over the years, bilateral ICT ties have steadily expanded, sustained by regular visits and frequent interactions through ICT platforms such as the ASEAN Telecommunications Senior Officials Meeting (TELSOM) and the ASEAN Telecommunications Regulators Council (ATRC).  These meetings allow for an exchange of views and to share ideas on ICT issues of common interests.

Based in Singapore, IMDA’s Southeast Asia Office plays an important role in for Singapore ICT officials to cultivate strong working relationships with other governments, associations and partners in the Southeast Asia region. Our aims are to forge closer government-to-government partnerships between Singapore and Southeast Asia countries, enhance Singapore's overall ICT brand and thought leadership in Southeast Asia, and facilitate market access for Singapore tech companies.

China Operation

Setup in 2002, IMDA’s China Office has been the key driver for bilateral collaborations between China and Singapore in the infocomm technology sector.  IMDA has engaged China through various platforms, such as the Joint Working Group with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).  In addition, IMDA participates in Whole-of-Government initiatives with China, such as the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, and the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.  These reflect the rich and wide-ranging engagements with the Chinese government over the past decade.

In October 2015, IMDA’s China Office relocated from Shanghai to Beijing. With this relocation, IMDA’s China Office aims to further deepen engagements with the Chinese government, and expand its support for current and future Whole-of-Government initiatives.
