Growing the IoT ecosystem in Singapore
To support efforts to transform and enhance different industry sectors through IoT, IMDA is working on the following:

Catalysing NB-IoT development
IMDA has been working toward developing cheaper and longer-lasting sensors for a wide variety of applications, from water usage and logistics to energy. By tapping on Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies such as NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT), sensors can be deployed to places without power access, thereby reducing costs.

Developing IoT clusters around platforms and verticals
Leveraging Singapore’s strength as MNCs’ regional headquarters, IMDA has been working with key industry players to facilitate partnerships amongst local companies and MNCs to enhance the IoT ecosystem.

Developing facilitative policies to address fundamental enablers
With the advent of IoT developments, issues of safeguarding personal data and managing cyber threats have become increasingly important. As such, IMDA will work with the industry to develop policies to address these key challenges.
