Designed to Share Insights on e-Commerce in the Evolution of the Digital Economy

Interested to know how to "dot.com" your company? How to crystallize your e-commerce strategies? How to reinforce your e-Security or manage your intellectual property rights in Cyberspace?

The answers to these questions will be revealed during the 4th Internet Commerce Conference (ICC) jointly organised by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). Invited speakers for the conference possess in-depth knowledge of the e-world. They will share with participants their experiences thus far in the e-world and caution all on the "dos" and "don'ts". The ICC has been recognised as one of the most important bilingual annual forum for local enterprises since its inaugural launch in 1996. Many attend the ICC to gain updates on the Internet technology and on the various creative applications they can use to expand their businesses. With the Internet creating a whole new computing paradigm, the issue today is not whether or not to embrace the Internet, but how to build an e-business that realises one's company's strategic business goals. In the planning of one's Internet strategies, it is imperative to understand the current state of electronic commerce, and the key trends that are affecting its development.

The 4th ICC is designed to enable participants to make informed decisions about electronic commerce, to gain an understanding of the evolution of the digital economy, its impact on electronic commerce and the key trends and issues ahead, and to develop effective e-commerce strategies that will enable one's company to compete and win in the new Internet economy.

In support of the conference, Dr Kaizad Heerjee, Assistant Chief Executive, Online Development, IDA said, "It is no longer a question of whether local enterprises should adopt e-commerce but a question of when and how they can e-enable their businesses and make the quantum leap in business productivity which in turn could lead to greater profitability."

A concurrent "Solutions Gallery" will be held to demonstrate the latest e-commerce technology and services by more than 50 infocomm vendors. The gallery will showcase solutions on how local enterprises can "dot.com" themselves and their business needs to stay connected in order to reap the benefits of the network economy. (See Annex B (21.50KB) below for list of some participating vendors)
