Singapore Supports City Informatization Efforts in the Asia-Pacific Region

In support of the city informatization efforts of governments in the Asia-Pacific region, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) will lead a delegation of 30 representatives from 11 Singapore infocomm companies to participate in the second City Informatization in the Asia-Pacific Region (CIAPR) Forum.

IDA leads Singapore Infocomm Companies to Participate in CIAPR Shanghai

In support of the city informatization efforts of governments in the Asia-Pacific region, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) will lead a delegation of 30 representatives from 11 Singapore infocomm companies to participate in the second City Informatization in the Asia-Pacific Region (CIAPR) Forum. (See Annex A for list of participating companies) The event will be held at Shanghai International Convention Centre, Pudong, from 24-25 May 2001.

Mr Lam Chuan Leong, Chairman of IDA said, "Singapore is happy to share our experience in e-government and infocomm development to contribute to the informatization efforts of our neighbouring nations in Asia Pacific. Our participation in CIAPR helps to lay the foundation for future win-win partnerships between Singapore infocomm companies and their counterparts in the region. We welcome joint collaborations with regional industry players to leverage our experience in the deployment and use of broadband, wireless, e-Commerce, e-Government for the development of products and services for China and the international market."

During the conference, Mr Lam will deliver a keynote address on "From Intelligent Island to Global Infocomm Capital" and Mr Khoong Hock Yun, Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Infocomm Development at IDA, will also share on how Singapore is bridging the digital divide at the Mayors Forum.

A Singapore Day Forum hosted by the IDA will also be held on 25 May at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai Hotel Ballroom to introduce Singapore infocomm industry players and encourage networking with potential business partners. The co-sponsors for Singapore Day include EdgeMatrix Pte Ltd, i-STT Pte Ltd, Nanyang Polytechnic and StarHub Pte Ltd. Three companies, namely EdgeMatrix, i-STT and StarHub, will be speaking at the event.

In conjunction with CIAPR, a China infocomm mission is organised for local companies to explore business partnerships in Beijing and Shanghai. The delegation consists of 30 representatives from 11 Singapore infocomm companies in the telecoms, broadband, e-Commerce and wireless industries.
