IDA has approved the proposed consolidation between StarHub and Singapore Cable Vision (SCV), which was submitted for IDA's approval on 17 May 2002.

IDA has approved the proposed consolidation between StarHub and Singapore Cable Vision (SCV), which was submitted for IDA's approval on 17 May 2002. The approval relates to the proposed changes to the respective ownership and shareholding of StarHub, StarHub Mobile and SCV arising from the proposed consolidation. IDA has reached its decision after reviewing the application and all relevant supporting materials, as well as all the issues raised in the public consultation exercise.
In conducting its review, IDA has taken into consideration the competitive impact of the proposed consolidation on the telecommunication market in which these companies compete. IDA has assessed and concluded that the proposed consolidation will not unreasonably restrict competition in the telecommunication market. However, IDA recognises that the proposed consolidation raises several competitive concerns and has therefore subject the approval to competitive safeguard conditions.
