First Singaporean Hired By Google Speaks At Inaugural Infocomm LIVE! Speaker Series
Infocomm LIVE!, a new speaker series launched by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) aims to engage entrepreneurs, industry professionals, researchers and students and inspire them to explore the potential of emerging technologies. The platform will explore development areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship and emerging infocomm trends and technologies like Web 2.0.
The Infocomm LIVE! Speaker Series is the latest of such platforms created by IDA to spur knowledge exchange within the industry. Its first platform, the Distinguished Infocomm Speaker (DIS) Series has generated much interest among many C-level executives of the infocomm industry. The DIS has seen industry luminaries such as Bill Gates (Microsoft), Sam Palmisano (IBM), and most recently, Derek Williams (Oracle) share on technological trends and business insights that will shape the future of the infocomm landscape.
IDA’s new platform, Infocomm LIVE! will broaden this knowledge exchange through a more informal setting and also by reaching out to younger professionals and students across all disciplines interested in emerging technologies and the future of infocomm as envisioned by next generation companies.
Rear-Admiral (NS) Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of the IDA, said, “Innovation in the age of digital convergence is changing the way enterprises and users adopt technology. Infocomm LIVE! serves as a platform where next generation companies and thought leaders can share their experiences and insights with the future leaders of the infocomm industry. The goal is to explore and facilitate the active exchange of ideas in the areas of next-generation technology and trends, entrepreneurship and innovation”.
IDA will work closely with industry partners to organise at least three Infocomm LIVE! events a year. The first Infocomm LIVE! will see IDA partnering The Digital Movement (TDM) to present Mr Tan Chade Meng of Google.
First Singaporean Hired By Google To Speak At Infocomm LIVE!
The inaugural Infocomm LIVE! event will be held on 30 July, 6:30 pm at DXO with Tan Chade Meng of Google. Popularly known as Google’s “Jolly Good Fellow”, Chade Meng is the first Singaporean to be hired by the American multi-national company. After completing a successful eight year stint in engineering, he is now an active evangelist with the Google University. Chade Meng will address a crowd of two hundred young entrepreneurs, professionals and students and will share on “Living and Innovating at Google”.
“I think it's way cool that IDA has launched its Infocomm LIVE! series to aid in the inspiring of young folks by having them engage with people with interesting insights and special experiences. I hope to make an auspicious start by sharing my own jolly story of living and innovating at Google so that after people listen to me, they will say 'I want to change the world, too!'" quipped Chade Meng.
