The Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team or SingCERT has received reports that the 'Loveletter' virus has affected 14 home users, 24 companies and 2 educational institutes as of 1800h today. Although there have been reports that the Singapore government has received the virus, the virus was not activated and thus, no damage was caused.

SingCERT first discovered the virus last night and proceeded to inform the Internet access service providers who subsequently issued alerts to their subscribers. Members on SingCERT's mailing list also received alerts about the virus.

Three variants of the virus have been detected with the subject lines "ILOVEYOU", "FWD: JOKE", "Susitikim shi vakara kavos puodukui".
