Singapore, 18 March 2002 | For Immediate Release
Merchants and consumers at the 24th Homemakers exhibition will experience an e-way of doing things for the very first time. Traditional brick-and-mortar companies such as Nobel Design, Eli Cucine, and L.L.C.T. are making their online debut through an e-store at http://shopping.yahoo.com.sg/efesthomemakers offering a galore of more than 200 great discount household items. Consumers have a choice of whether to shop online at the e-store, from the comfort of their homes, or visit the e-Festival@Homemakers feature pavilion.
As a prelude to the 52-week e-Celebrations Singapore campaign starting in April, e-Festival@Homemakers 2002 aims to encourage the public to experience the benefits of secure online transactions. Organised by Reed Exhibitions and supported by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), this initiative is in line with IDA's objective to partner the private sector to stage a diversity of e-lifestyle events throughout the year.
Ms Pam Hu, Director of e-Lifestyle Marketing, Online Development, IDA, said, "IDA is pleased to partner Homemakers - the longest running consumer home show - to showcase the versatility of e-transactions through special promotions and activities. Throughout the year, e-Festival will further leverage on other key lifestyle platforms so as to demonstrate to consumers the various ways of how Infocomm technology can be integrated into everyday life."
e-Festival@Homemakers will serve as an interactive platform for consumers to experience online purchases at the e-Store. Besides online lucky draws and surveys, more than 200 products on promotion will be launched online to encourage online transactions. These include massagers at savings of over $100, electronics safes at savings of $400, digital cameras at savings of over $50, amongst many others.
Not just a shopper's paradise, the e-Festival@Homemakers e-store is also an affordable platform to lend a hand to several traditional brick and mortar players to go online for the first time and potentially extend their market reach. e-Store participants include Nobel Design and Eli Cucine for interior design, L.L.C.T. for electrical appliances.
The e-Festival@Homemakers e-Store will continue to run for two months after the Homemakers exhibition ends on 31 March 2002 .
Ms Michelle Lim, Vice-President of e-Festival team, Reed Exhibitions Singapore said, "These various ways of engaging consumers the 'e' way bring out the benefits of greater ease and convenience of e-transactions through personal hands-on experience at e-Festival@Homemakers e-Store. Consumers will now be exposed to a wide array of online activities that were not available in previous shows."
e-Festival@Homemakers also features the Broadband Pavilion, which demonstrates broadband capabilities. SingTel will promote its broadband@home' concept for a more sophisticated e-lifestyle. A 'Wireless @ Home" concept will also be showcased in the Nobel Show Flat exhibition.
Homemakers 2002 will retain its identity of providing the largest assortment of home products ranging from ergonomically-designed furniture, fittings, interior design services, appliances, furnishes, aquatic lifestyle products, home entertainment system, intelligent home systems and home accessories. Major industry players include the likes of Nobel Design, Mayers Marketing, Eurolite and City Gas etc.
Homemakers will return to the Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre (SICEC) from 23 - 31 March at Halls 601 - 603, Level 6, between 12 noon to 10 pm daily.
