The Republic of Singapore and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan signed an agreement to promote co-operation in e-Government and other ICT areas. This agreement paves the way for stronger bilateral relations, and increased trade and investments.

Today's signing was witnessed by His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. The agreement was sealed by H.E. Dr. Bassem Awadallah, Minister of Planning of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and H.E. Brigadier-General (NS) George Yong-Boon Yeo, Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, and Minister for Trade and Industry, at the Istana.

The agreement will formalise co-operation in e-Government between Singapore and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. As part of the agreement, Singapore will provide e-Government consultancy to Jordan, which may include sharing of expertise in e-Government operations and financial management issues and structure as well as portal management and the delivery of e-Government services in partnership with Singaporean companies.

The Agreement will also facilitate further co-operation between institutions dealing with ICT in both countries as well as promote partnerships between Singaporean and Jordanian ICT companies on e-Government projects.

Singapore and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will look into other areas of collaboration in the field of ICT, such as regulation and competition management, industry development, human resource development and broadband deployment.
