Singapore, 24 March 2004 | For Immediate Release

A Week of Infocomm and Media Activities Brings International Business Leaders, Enterprises and IT Industry Professionals Together

Singapore Exhibition Services (SES) and the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) with the support of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) today announced the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX). This is a week of activities that will include established trade shows CommunicAsia, BroadcastAsia, EnterpriseIT, the iX2004 Conference, as well as a series of other events to be held concurrently at the Singapore Expo from 14-18 June, 2004.

imbX will attract an influx of more than 2,100 international exhibiting companies and nearly 30,000 visitors to Singapore and is expected to inject more than S$180 million into the local economy. The week-long imbX will feature three exhibitions, eight conferences and close to 400 speakers. This event brings together international business leaders, enterprises and industry professionals, and further enhances Singapore's position as Asia's leading infocomm and media hub.

"We are pleased to be organising this event in conjunction with the SiTF. This year our established trade exhibitions CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia2004 will return stronger and better. Together with EnterpriseIT and the well established iX2004 conference, they will function as a focal point for the exchange of ideas, to promote trade, showcase the latest innovations, and introduce new technology into Asia. imbX is a valuable one-stop platform for business leaders, companies, government officials, regulatory agencies and industry professionals," said Mr Stephen Tan, Chief Executive of SES.

"imbX will provide the motive force to bring back the buzz into the infocomm industry. I am confident that the collaborative and focused efforts that we bring to imbX, and especially through the iX2004 conference, will enable the business community to see ICT as the enabler of their own growth and development," said Mr Saw Ken Wye, Chairman of SiTF.

iX2004 Conference, organised by SiTF from 14 - 15 June, will discuss the most pressing ICT issues facing the business world today, and the application of ICT at the enterprise level. Delegates will benefit from different and even opposing views on each issue in a series of 'executive debates' and panel discussions.

Nicholas G Carr, whose controversial paper, "IT Doesn't Matter" in the Harvard Business Review last year took the IT world by storm, will be a keynote speaker at iX2004. Conference topics include E-Government, Outsourcing, Open Source, Wireless Technologies, and Information Security.

CommunicAsia, this year will reflect the latest trends in 3G, IP solutions, content development, mobile networks and applications, satellite communications, wireless products and services. Speakers at the CommunicAsia Summit will deliver powerful presentations on mobile operator strategies, China's impact on telecommunication and technology sectors, Next Generation Networks, and much more.

BroadcastAsia has an exciting line-up of activities for Digital Cinema Day on June 16. Asian D-Cinema summit will see experts from Eng Wah, GDC Technology, Mukta Adlabs and Singtel share their views and vision for digital cinema in Asia. EnterpriseIT will highlight enterprise technology applications.

Hosting imbX and further promoting Singapore's status as an infocomm and media hub are IDA and MDA.

"The coming together of these events under the Infocomm Media Business Exchange banner is certainly a timely one. Recent global developments and technology trends attest to the blurring of traditional boundaries and the creation of new opportunities in an increasingly integrated Infocomm and media environment. IDA fully supports this," said Mrs Tan Ching Yee, Chief Executive Officer, IDA.

"The MDA will continue to encourage and support international and Singapore media companies to expand their business networks through their participation in BroadcastAsia and imbX. For BroadcastAsia this year, the MDA is leading a delegation of nine Singapore-based companies at the Singapore Pavilion to showcase the latest applications, services and products in digital cinema, digital TV and digital audio broadcasting. We believe the support we give will encourage even more companies to come up with innovative applications and services that will help them grow their existing business and generate new revenue streams," said Mr Lim Hock Chuan, Chief Executive Officer, MDA.
