H.E. Dr Ismail Khudhur Al-Shatti, Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs, State of Kuwait, and H.E. Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Republic of Singapore, met on 6 Sep 2006 to review the progress of the cooperation in e-Government between the Governments of the State of Kuwait and Singapore.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the overall progress of the collaboration so far. E-Government projects such as the Kuwait Government Portal and Kuwait Information Network identified under the Kuwait e-Government Blueprint provided by Singapore to Kuwait - are progressing. The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) is also assisting Kuwait with the establishment of its Central Infocomm Technology (IT) Entity to drive e-Government implementation. Both Ministers noted with satisfaction that the Kuwaiti Council of Ministers have passed a decree for the Entity's set up on 20 Aug 06.

To further strengthen e-Government capability within the Kuwaiti public sector leadership, Kuwait and Singapore will continue to exchange experience in implementing e-Government in their countries respectively. Singapore has also invited senior officials from the Kuwaiti government to attend the newly formed Singapore e-Government Leadership Centre (eGL) for an executive immersion programme.

Dr Al-Shatti and Dr Lee reiterated their desire to continue their collaboration. Officials from both countries have established a strong relationship, and Singapore and Kuwait can look forward to deeper commitment from both countries to strengthen the bilateral relation and exploit opportunities for mutual benefits.
