Qatar And Singapore Boost ICT Partnership

29 October 2007 - Building on the success of previous agreements, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and ictQATAR, the Supreme Council of Information & Communications Technology of Qatar today inked the third Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost ICT partnerships between the two states.

Building on the success of previous agreements, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and ictQATAR, the Supreme Council of Information & Communications Technology of Qatar today inked the third Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost ICT partnerships between the two states.

The scope of the MOU will cover areas such as telecommunications, e-health, e-education, e-commerce and e-tourism. Both parties will share experience and knowledge and explore co-operation on projects which will be implemented by both the public and private sectors. This will further accelerate the development and adoption of ICT in both states.

The previous two MOUs have resulted in a number of projects collaboration including the eSchoolbag initiative and the implementation of the Qatar Service Platform. Details of the projects are available in the fact sheet (18.94KB)  attached.

“The successes are made possible by the strong relationship IDA shares with ictQATAR. We are confident that the latest collaboration will increase opportunities for the ICT sectors of both countries and further strengthen the ICT partnership,” said Tan Kar Joo, Senior Director of IDA.

”This MoU signifies the close cooperation between ictQATAR and IDA. Both organisations have been working together to enhance the effectiveness of ICT sectors in the two countries as well as connecting people to the best technologies that will enrich lives and spur economic growth” said Hassan Al-Sayed, Government IT Platform Director at ictQATAR.

The MOU was signed in Singapore on 29 October 2007 by Ms Tan Kar Joo, Senior Director of Industry and Cluster Development, IDA and Hassan Al-Sayed, Director, Government IT Platform, ictQATAR and witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Wong Kan Seng and Qatar’s Heir Apparent H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
