Home Networking Clinic Complements Guide to Help Homeowners Tap on Next Gen NBN

15 September 2011 - Homeowners who are interested to connect different parts of their house to Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN) now have another resource to turn to for advice.

Singapore, 15 September 2011 | For Immediate Release

Homeowners who are interested to connect different parts of their house to Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN) now have another resource to turn to for advice. Called Home Networking Clinic, this is a follow-on initiative from the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) after the Home Networking Guide to help homeowners tap on the ultra high broadband speed delivered over Next Gen NBN.

Located at iExperience, Home Networking Clinic is available on weekdays at three time slots1. Besides getting a one-to-one briefing on the home networking options available, homeowners will also be advised on which options can cater to their needs. They will also receive a copy of the Home Networking Guide at the end of their session.

"Complementing the Guide, the Home Networking Clinic provides another channel for homeowners to discuss their home networking needs and explore the options available directly with a resource person. We encourage homeowners who are new to the concept of Home Networking or have queries pertaining to it, to register for the Clinic to find out more," said RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of IDA.

After their session, homeowners can also take the opportunity to walk through iExperience to view some of the Next Gen Services they can already subscribe to, as well as showcases of what they can expect in the near future.

iExperience, which opened in July 2010, recently refreshed its exhibits so that visitors can enjoy different experiences each time they visit the centre. Visitors can try out new exhibits like catch-up television, home automation, and live interaction with friends and loved ones through their television set at home. As today's business world gears towards cloud-based services, visitors can also experience the tangible benefits of such scalable platforms, resources and services through the "cloud" experience, for example, the rendering of pictures real-time onto a moving image of a bus in a video.

Another interesting area for parents and children would be the 'Learn' area, which is equipped with new interactive multi-touch tables and educational applications that make learning fun. A 3D photo booth and 3D video-making corner also allows visitors to create 3D video and see themselves on a 3D TV.

Homeowners who are interested to attend the Home Networking Clinic can make an appointment through iExperience at 6820 6880 or iExperience@imda.gov.sg.

Members of the public who would like to have a copy of the Home Networking Guide can also get it from the iExperience or download an e-copy from IDA's website www.ida.gov.sg.
