The digital revolution is creating a tremendous disruption in every facet of our lives. What is the impact on our world when robots, drones and the use of virtual reality become commonplace? Learn how disruptive technologies, as critical agents of change, are creating new realities in the future at the second edition of the Smart Nation Innovations Week, to be held in Singapore from May 17 – 21, 2016.
Tech innovators and business leaders such as Peter Vesterbacka (founder of Angry Birds), Rob LoCascio (Founder of LivePerson), Taavet Hinrikus (Co-founder, Transferwise), Scott Spirit (Chief Digital Officer of WPP) and to name a few, will be sharing their innovation strategy to ensure survival in the digital tomorrow during the Smart Nation Innovations Week.
Comprising of four pillar events – InnovFest unBound, Forbes Under 30 Summit Asia, Tech Saturday, Big Bang Data - , the Smart Nation Innovations Week will reach out to more than 15,000 local and international participants across different communities, driven by a common interest to share ideas on harnessing emerging technologies to develop innovative solutions for everyday challenges.
The events will bring together key players in the global and local tech ecosystems, including tech innovators, data developers, corporates and brands, start-ups, investors, researchers, government representatives as well as Asia’s top young innovators to exchange valuable insights and spark new collaborations, thus reinforcing Singapore’s position as a leading innovation hub for cutting edge technologies in the world.
Initiated by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), the Smart Nation Innovations Week returns for its second edition with a bigger line up of events offering a more varied programme. With the theme “Tech Meets Innovation”, the series of events will showcase Singapore’s most innovative start-ups and latest disruptive technologies from leading tech companies and corporate brands.

InnovFest unBound Conference ( 17, 18 May 2016)
Partnering NUS Enterprise and unBound Media, Innovfest unBound is a two-day conference that spotlights Asia’s most innovative developments in the digital, technology and innovation space. It comprises of three main stages and 35 satellite events where participants can share insights on the impact of new technologies in finance, healthcare, retail and media; opportunities in Asian markets; how corporates and brands work with start-ups and disruptive innovations; the future world from the research and academic perspective.
A key highlight of InnovFest unBound is its globally curated exhibition of groundbreaking innovations from Singapore and around the region. Visitors can view the latest autonomous work machines, interactive robots, next-gen smart devices and sleek augmented-reality gadgets in the Tech Alley, Start-Up Bazaar and Institute of Higher Learning Zones.
Satellite activities include Special Panels, Technology Pitching, Founder & Investor networking, the Unilever start-up battle, the Twitter developer workshop, Office Hours start-up clinics, Corporate Pitch Sessions, the Urban Experience social networking and many more.
The event targets a turnout of more than 3,000 attendees, including global brands, entrepreneurs, IHLs, researchers, investors, start-ups, students, government officials and delegations from US, UK, Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Russia and beyond.

Forbes Under 30 Summit Asia (19 May 2016)
Held for the first time in Asia, the Forbes Under 30 Summit Asia will convene honourees of the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list – 300 of the most influential young entrepreneurs, innovators and game-changers, all under 30 years of age, who are contributing to their industries in a significant way.
The list covers 10 categories - The Arts (Art & Style, Food & Drink); Manufacturing & Energy; Entertainment & Sports; Consumer Technology; Finance & Venture Capital; Enterprise Technology; Media, Marketing & Advertising; Health Care & Science; Social Entrepreneurs; and Retail & E-Commerce – with each of the honourees vetted by a panel of expert judges in their respective fields.
The summit will bring together more than 250 of these rising stars across the region to share insights and brainstorm for new ideas over forums, TED-style presentations, key notes, mentorship from successful business leaders and creative pitching workshops.

Tech Saturday (21 May 2016)
Gracing the event is Dr Janil Puthucheary, Minister of State for Ministry of Communications and Information and the Ministry of Education.
Key components of Tech Saturday include a technology showcase of the latest products to enhance people’s lives; a gadget market place to view innovative projects and buy tech tinker sets; hands-on workshops for children, adults and seniors to learn 3D printing, coding and robotics; a drone competition arena for seasoned hobbyists to pit their drone flying skills; and a kids hackathon for young builders aged 9 to 12 years old to code robots to solve issues in transportation.
Tech Saturday will also be travelling to the heartlands, holding two pop-up teaser events using the IDA Labs on Wheels bus at Century Square and at Velocity on 30 Apr and 7 May respectively.
Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information will be meeting and greeting the public at the pop-up on 7 May.
Big Bang Data Exhibition (21 May – 16 October 2016)
Discover the science of data in data driven art realised through large-scale immersive installations, historical artifacts and contemporary artworks.
Hailing from the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) and Fundación Telefónica in Spain – Big Bang Data is making its Asian premiere at ArtScience Museum on 21 May after travelling across cities in three continents including Barcelona, Madrid, Buenos Aires, London and Santiago.
Through the work of artists, designers, journalists and visionaries, the exhibition explores contemporary issues surrounding the Big Data explosion of the 21st century that is radically transforming society today.
Exhibiting alongside the international contemporary art installations are data visualisations, interviews with local data experts, and prototypes developed by leading local research institutions in the fields of infocomm technologies. Embracing the ‘art’ in Smart Nation, the exhibition highlights Singapore’s unique relationship with data within the Smart Nation framework and provides a holistic understanding of the ways in which data is affecting our daily lives.
