Here's the chance which all budding scriptwriters dream about : The Singapore Broadcasting Authority (SBA) is looking for talented scriptwriters to turn their works into TV programmes for broadcast on local TV. Besides the chance at gaining fame and recognition, they will also stand to win cash prizes worth $30,000, trophies and certificates for their efforts.
All they have to do is to take part in the SBA National Scriptwriting Competition, organised by SBA in partnership with MediaCorp TV Channel 5 and MediaCorp TV12 Arts Central. The Competition is open to all residents in Singapore.
The SBA National Scriptwriting Competition is part of SBA's continuing efforts to encourage good scripts that can be translated into quality TV productions, with both local and international appeal. Last year, SBA initiated a series of Masterclass lectures and workshops on scriptwriting for drama, children's programmes and documentaries conducted by expert writers from Canada, Australia and the UK. The series was well received by the people from the TV industry, educational institutions and the public with interest on becoming scriptwriters.
Scriptwriters can participate in two categories for the competition, Drama and Docu-drama.
Scripts for the Drama Category should be for an hour long programme each, and they can be for a one-off story or a pilot with the potential to develop into a series. Entries for the Docu-drama Category could be for half-hour or one-hour programme each.
To help judge the competition and select the best works, a panel of judges made up of professionals from the broadcasting and production industry and academia has been formed. The panel members are:

MediaCorp TV Channel 5 is the Official TV Station for the Drama Category of the Competition, and MediaCorp TV12 Arts Central is the Official TV Station for the Docu-Drama Category. The winning entries will be developed into TV programmes to be shown on these two MediaCorp channels.
