MDA takes you on a discovery of the origins of our food with Food Chain

Dated: 27 September 2003

We are what we eat. Nowhere is this adage more apparent than in Singapore, where eating is arguably the number one past time. But do you know where we get our fish for our fish head curry? And where and how are our vegetables grown? The answers can be found in Food Chain, a 13-part series commissioned by the Media Development Authority (MDA) to help Singaporeans better understand what goes on behind-the-scene before the food ends up on our dinner table.

Hosted by veteran actress Tan Kheng Hua, Food Chain takes viewers from the market to the kitchen, to restaurants and food centres and traces the entire food chain of basic food types we consume daily like eggs, rice, spices, chicken, fish and vegetables. Each episode will feature a food item and provide a glimpse of how each item is grown or cultivated and then processed and distributed before being used in the preparation of a dish.

Food Chain is produced by The Moving Visuals Company and debuts on 30 September at 7.30pm on Channel 5.
