Renowned cinematographer, Mr Russell Boyd, will take the helm at the first ever MDA-KODAK Master Lecture, to share with local filmmakers and film buffs his experiences in filmmaking.

The evening will begin with the screening of the movie, "Master &Commander - The Far Side of the World", followed by a talk. During the talk, Mr Boyd will weave in elements of the movie to reveal the secrets and challenges in creating the film. He will also highlight the importance of good working relationships with the director, key creative production and post-production crew and even the actors as they have an influence on the creative and technical directions, computer graphic options and the integration of technology to produce a well-crafted, seamless masterpiece.
This is the first time the Media Development Authority (MDA) and KODAK are working together to bring in an established media professional to nurture, grow and upgrade the skills of practitioners here in Singapore.
"The MDA is very glad to partner KODAK in organising this event. It is our hope that through learning and interaction with world-renowned media experts, our Singapore filmmakers will gain immense knowledge and be inspired to reach greater heights in their careers. This event is one of many programmes under the Media 21 plan to nurture Singapore media talents," said Mr Seto Lok Yin, Director of Industry Development, MDA.
Mr Joshua Chan, Country Business Unit Manager of KODAK (Singapore) Pte Ltd, commented on the collaboration, "KODAK has always been supportive of nurturing the film industry. Through the years, we have organized several workshops and seminars by presenting industry veterans who can impart some of their knowledge and experience to train, update and inspire industry professionals and newcomers alike."
Mr Boyd has been a prominent figure in the world of filmmaking, having photographed films such as Liar Liar, Doctor DoLittle and White Men Can't Jump. He has also been instrumental in helping the Australian film industry gain international recognition. One of the ways was through training and working with young Australian filmmakers where many of them have gained worldwide recognition.
