Media Development Authority celebrates Racial Harmony Day

The Media Development Authority (MDA) has commissioned two new children's programmes which will debut on MediaCorp TV12's Kids Central later this month. Block 523 (Season 2)

Following the success of the first season of the children's drama Block 523, the MDA has funded a second season which looks at racial harmony through the eyes of children. The stories in this new season continue to revolve around the lives of five children from different ethnic backgrounds who are friends as well as neighbours in a housing estate. Through their daily adventures, these children learn more about the different cultures and religions that exist in Singapore's multi-racial society.

Produced by Dream Forest Productions, this four-part drama which stars Homerun actress Megan Zhang in her first English-speaking role, debuts on Kids Central on Sunday, 18 July 2004 at 9.30am.

Emily's World
A 13-part mixed media programme, Emily's World is a new children's info-educational series with animated characters set against familiar local live-action backgrounds like the Singapore Zoological Gardens, Chinatown and Orchard Road.

Produced by independent local production house Peach Blossom Media, this series features 2D-animated characters of a girl named Emily, her pet squirrel Charlie and an eccentric Professor Chan. Together with the learned Professor Chan, Emily learns about science, mathematics, art and Singapore's culture in the​ course of their adventures as they go on a quest t​o find Charlie.

This programme debuts on Kids Central on Monday, 26 July 2004 at 6pm.
