The Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore and Korean Broadcasting Institute (KBI) will be co-financing three High-Definition TV (HDTV) co-production projects by Singapore and Korean producers for international distribution in the third quarter of 2007.
Said Dr Christopher Chia, Chief Executive Officer, MDA, “We are delighted to partner KBI in this creative and meaningful collaboration between the two countries. With the expertise and experience of Singapore and Korean producers in producing and distributing HD programmes, I am confident that the projects selected will be made to the best production standards and suitable for audiences in other parts of the world.”
Mr Yu Gyun, the CEO of KBI said, ""Partnering with Singaporean producers via MDA will provide great opportunities for the Korean producers. The high quality talents from both countries will help to produce Asian content that can reach the global audience with confidence. Today marks an exciting milestone in our partnership"".
Said Mr Tony Chow, President of the Association of Independent Television Production Companies (AIPRO) Singapore, “We are delighted to be a part of the success between MDA and KBI, in bringing together local independent production companies and the Korean independents to collaborate and co-produce television contents. The initiative saw overwhelming interests from our independent producers to take an active step towards co-productions, co-develop stories and build long term working relationship between the two countries. AIPRO Singapore believes this is only the beginning of the relationship with up to three HD projects between our indies and their Korean counterparts. We look forward to more collaborations by Singapore producers and MDA, KBI and the Korean indies.”
