Creator Collective Programme Call for Contributions

18 April 2016 - Creative Collective, a new industry educational and engagement programme is set to inspire, inform and facilitate a new generation of commercial online content creators in Singapore.

Spearheaded by experienced professional practitioners through Brand New Media Global (BNM), who is working with the Asia Content Marketing Association (ACMA), Creator Collective programme aims to reach out to more than 200 online content creators in Singapore.

The Creator Collective programme is supported under the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA)'s Creators' Space initiative to enhance the capabilities of online content creators in Singapore. BNM was announced in 2015 as one of MDA's seven partners for Creators' Space, which is slated to be launched in the second half of 2016. Creators' Space will offer an environment that nurtures a community of online content creators and encourages the development of professional online video content.

The Creator Collective programme comprises an engagement portal (https://www.creatorcollective.asia/), which provides value-added information on branded content creation, such as video how-to guides, tips and tricks, a library showcasing the best industry examples and weekly challenges to inspire independent creators to immerse themselves in the industry. The programme also includes the Creator Academy; an e-learning platform that delivers a structured approach to learning key skills endorsed by Asia Content Marketing Association to participants, as well as a series of workshops that offers participants hands-on learning opportunities with leading media and advertising industry professionals.

At the Creator Collective programme's workshops, participants will also be tasked to work on a proposal for an actual prospective client's brief. The winning participant of Creator Collective programme may also get a chance to have his/her proposal selected by the client to be developed for full production at the end of the programme.

Call for Contributions

The Creator Collective Programme launches on April 27th 2016 with contributions invited from industry professionals for the engagement, e-learning and workshop environments. Contributors benefit from building awareness and relationships with independent creators in addition to one-to-one contact at workshops.

Contributions can take the form of knowledge-sharing sessions, how-to articles, explanatory or showcase videos, and workshop presentations or interactive sessions. Contributors will be fully credited for their contributions and are provided with links back to their company platforms.

Industry professionals who would like to contribute are invited to send their proposals to submissions@creatorcollective.com.

Other Industry Support Garnered

In addition to ACMA, speakers and contributors confirmed come from international and regional agencies including MEC Wavemaker, Mindshare Content Trust, Zenith Newscast, Dentsu Aegis Network, Novus Media, Click2View and Kudos Content.

International brands Johnson & Johnson and Mead Johnson Nutrition have also confirmed their support for the programme.

Joachim Ng, Director (Industry Operations), MDA said: "It is exciting for MDA and Creators' Space to partner BNM in this cross-media training platform, with the support of a regional association of expert practitioners. We see the Creator Collective as the right move in equipping a new generation of content creators with the skills to succeed in a rapidly changing media industry."

Nick Fawbert, Head of Knowledge, Brand New Media Global commented:

"Establishing an ecosystem of creative, commercially capable young entrepreneurs in this area is a cornerstone to success. Dedicated, inspirational marketing content that focuses on consumer needs discounts the need for interruptive advertising and allows brands to own the customer relationship, own the data, and provide opportunities for commercial interactions.

"The Asia Development Bank forecasts regional growth of 6.3% across 2016, increasing pressure on marketers to engage and influence an increasingly affluent consumer base. This comes at a time when growing audience sophistication has increased ad blocking by 46% in 2015 and fuelled demands for more relevant and responsive communications.

"We are investing heavily in this project because we see it as a unique stepping stone to commercial success for independent creators and a way of supporting regional industry growth with Singapore as a creative hub."

Andrea Edwards, Executive Director at the Asia Content Marketing Association commented:

"The Content Marketing Institute suggests that content marketing already represents up to 28% of all marketing expenditure in the United States, and industry forecasts from PQ Media suggest that global investment in this discipline has already hit US$145bn in 2014 and will exceed US$300bn by 2019. This is clearly a commercial area that shows opportunity for both domestic growth and the positioning of Singapore as a regional hub."
