Discover coding in colours, Build a robot, Play an Arduino piano or Dream your own virtual world at the Worksheds. With over 30 tech and media workshops to choose from, there is something for everyone. 

Worksheds sessions are free! Check out the programme below and register for the various Worksheds activities that we have at Tech Saturday (Upsized!) today. Online registration will close on Friday 28 April at 5:00pm sharp, so hurry and sign up today!

For those who have missed the registration deadline, come visit us at Hall C of Sands Expo and Convention Centre located at level 1 as walk-in registrations are welcome on both 29 and 30 April, subjected to availability on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Things to Note:

  • In order for everyone to have a fair chance participating at the Worksheds, please register for only one session.
  • Selection is based on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • Do keep a look out for an e-mail confirmation to indicate that your registration is successful.
  • Please be punctual for the session. Your seat will be given up if you are more than 5 minutes late.
  • The age recommendation is only a reference of the learning level and need not be strictly followed.

Lift your imagination off the page and make your 2D drawings come alive! Understand what 3D printing is about and how a 3D printing pen lets you draw with plastic.


BUILD

Enter the World of LEDs

Learn how to build and programme your own LED Mood Lamp project using the Arduino microcontroller. No prior experience in electronics and coding are required.

Story Creation in Virtual Reality

Potato Pirates: Code without Computers

Become a digital-making micro:bit maestro with our easy-to-use pluggable components. Enhance your environment with music, movement, button-mashing, and more!


DREAM

(Recommended Age: 18 years & above)

Sumo Game Design with Makey Makey

11.30am to 1.30pm

Get children to program their own multiplayer sumo 3D game using Microsoft Kodu Game Lab. What's even better? They get to design their game controller from everyday materials, interface it with their game using Makey Makey and battle with their friends!

Disruptive Storytelling in a Convergent World

Utilizing transmedia storytelling techniques, story triggers and other creative tools, learn to create a story structure, character, a story universe, social media expansions, a content pitch to develop an air tight and ultimately thoroughly engaging piece of story.

Bumper Car Race - Make your own App!

IET Faraday Challenge “Table Tennis Server”

The challenge: design and make a prototype table tennis server that can be operated remotely, is adjustable and must serve 4 balls consistently.

Have fun working as an engineering team to do your planning and research, develop your team's solution, manage your project budget, build your prototype, and present your solution.

Little Artists for VR

A creative workshop that transforms hand-drawn artwork into the virtual reality world! This programme is suitable for beginners on understanding the 360 principles for virtual reality. This worksheds requires no prior knowledge of coding and art background.

Motor Challenge Workshop - Construct a Simple Motor

2.00pm to 4.00pm

Be introduced to the world of electrical motors. Construct the fastest turning motor and compete with one another!

Construct a Blind Man Maze

4.30pm to 6.30pm

Use daily material and electronic kits to construct a maze. They will be blind folded then navigate a robot through the maze, while following instructions from team member.

Build a Biped Walking Robot

Be guided step-by-step through the process of using the Arduino software to upload, program and assemble your first walking robot with 3D printed parts.

IET Faraday Challenge “Emergency Communications”

11.30am to 6.00pm

The challenge: As the engineering rescue team you need to design and build a prototype device to send coded messages to a neighbouring town that has been cut off because of extreme weather conditions, you must also create a code to send a message using your device to the neighbouring town.
