Intergen IT Bootcamp

Seniors have a chance to go back to school and interact with their grandchildren or students from the neighbouring schools to learn basic infocomm skills, enhancing digital literacy and promoting digital wellness among the elderly population.

In 2010, IDA (now IMDA) started the Intergen IT Bootcamp in collaboration with schools and community partners to bridge the digital divide. Over the years, IMDA had scaled up the level of participation, expanding to schools within Radin Mas SMC, Ang Mo Kio GRC, Tampines GRC, Tanjong Pagar GRC, and North East CDC.

Schools and organisations interested to participate in the Intergen IT Bootcamp may contact info@imda.gov.sg.

About the Intergen IT Bootcamp

The Intergen IT Bootcamp by IMDA is a collaboration with Council for Third Age (C3A) to provide Intergenerational Learning Programme (ILP) for seniors through youths. Family Central, a service by Fei Yue Community Services, is the appointed programme organiser by the C3A to organise the bootcamps for seniors and youths across Singapore.

Who can apply?

The programme is made available for schools that are interested to be part of the Intergen IT Bootcamp.

Benefits

The Intergen IT Bootcamp aims to encourage intergenerational bonding by matching youths and seniors in a group learning environment where the youths teach the seniors how to stay digitally connected and maintain digital wellbeing. Youths from various schools from primary to tertiary levels, become cyber-guides to help their grandparents learn basic computer skills and social networking tools such as Skype and Facebook, to connect and chat with their friends. The youths in turn will learn practical application of their knowledge and build their character and values such as respect for the seniors.

How to apply?

Organisations and schools who are keen to take part, may contact Family Central.
