On 8 November 2002, IDA published a consultation paper on a proposed Voluntary Code for Prepaid International Calling Card Services and invited the public to submit their views on the proposed Voluntary Code. At the close of the consultation period on 9 December 2002, IDA received four responses.
Issue of Advisory Guidelines for Prepaid International Calling Card ServicesOn 8 November 2002, IDA published a consultation paper on a proposed Voluntary Code for Prepaid International Calling Card Services and invited the public to submit their views on the proposed Voluntary Code. At the close of the consultation period on 9 December 2002, IDA received four responses. The respondents were: Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel); MobileOne Ltd (M1); StarHub Pte Ltd (StarHub); and Sunpage Communications Pte Ltd (Sunpage). IDA thanks the respondents for their comments.
IDA has considered all the comments received and has made further revision to the Voluntary Code. The revised proposed Voluntary Code has been issued as a set of Advisory Guidelines. This set of Advisory Guidelines aims to encourage the industry to adopt a set of best practices when providing pre-paid services to end-users and to help end-users make more informed choices before purchasing the service.
