Members of the Media,
Ladies and Gentlemen.

1. Thank you for inviting me to be part of this important milestone of the Healthcare.NET initiative. Jointly launched by the Health Minister Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Microsoft's Chief Executive Officer Mr Steve Ballmer, and IDA Chairman Mr Lam Chuan Leong on 18 November last year, this initiative aims to develop Alexandra Hospital's vision of a hassle-free hospital.

2. This is a bold step undertaken by the Hospital as it strives to re-engineer its various business processes, leveraging on Infocomm. All these pioneering efforts to create a patient friendly environment would not have been possible without the strong support from the Hospital's management and staff, and especially the personal commitment from the CEO Mr Liak himself.

3. As in all collaborations, partners play critical roles, with their own strengths and expertise. I am happy to note that we have managed to engage two more strategic partners to realise the "Hassle-free Hospital" vision - "Every Patient, the Only Patient". Our two new partners are Nanyang Polytechnic and Frontline Solutions.

4. As I understand, the Healthcare.NET initiative has moved, and continues to move at a very fast pace. I am sure Mr Lin Cheng Ton and his team are more than equipped to keep up with this fast pace. The NYP team will be assisting in the Fast Prototyping of the Clinical and Patient Dashboards under this initiative through capturing the users' - both patients and caregivers - requirements. Eventually, we can look forward to a user-friendly and customisable interface that allows users to intuitively use the system with minimal training, and share information where appropriate.

5. As in all Infocomm projects, user interfaces will only make sense if they are propagated with information. Currently, in the hospital setting, the medical records and related information are stored in various databases. This is where Infocomm can come in to integrate and provide a holistic view of the information from disparate sources. Frontline Solutions has taken up this challenge, to be the System Integration partner and join the rest of the partners in this journey.

6. In all these efforts, Microsoft has continued its commitment to provide the standard-based .NET platform for Healthcare.NET initiative, and provide its consultancy expertise to both Nanyang Polytechnic and Frontline Solutions. IDA, working with these partners, will continue to support Alexandra Hospital to tap on the latest infocomm technologies to enhance healthcare services delivery in Singapore.

7. Let us all continue with this exciting journey, and work towards the fruition of the "Hassle-free Hospital" vision.
