Ladies and gentlemen,
Good morning.
Introduction
1. I am honoured to be here today to launch the inaugural training course and workshop under IDA’s Techno-Strategists Programme (or TSP in short). I am also encouraged that more than 100 of you have registered for this inaugural training programme.
Techno-Strategists: A Strategic Asset for the Industry
2. The TSP was launched by Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) in February this year. The title of today’s training course and workshop, “Driving Healthcare Transformation through Technology” aptly encapsulates the aim of TSP. Through a series of workshops and training courses, the TSP aims to equip working professionals with strong technical skills and in-depth industry domain knowledge across various industry sectors. This is so that professionals can leverage on infocomm technology to transform the way businesses are done in their domain sectors.
3. Later in the video, you will see four industry spokespersons talk about increasing business opportunities in their respective domains. In particular, “Techno-Strategists” are highly valued. They have the capabilities to work with both domain users and infocomm vendors to design, develop and deploy business solutions that are demanded by the different business domains.
TSP is Aligned with Industry Partners’ Professional Development Need
4. For a start, the TSP will roll out training programmes in four industry sectors, namely, healthcare, financial services, hospitality and retail. These are industry sectors strategic to IDA’s 10-year infocomm masterplan, Intelligent Nation 2015 (or iN2015 for short).
5. The launch of TSP is timely for these industry sectors because it coincides with the launch of several national-level projects. For example, the announcement to complete the National Electronic Medical Record system by 20101 for the local healthcare industry. At this juncture, I wish to thank MOH Holdings and the various stakeholders in the healthcare industry for their assistance in planning and developing this training course and workshop.
6. The TSP will continue to roll out more training programmes in various industry domains. We look forward to your participation and invaluable feedback to refine these programmes for the benefit of all our working professionals.
7. On this note, I wish you a fruitful workshop and hope you will gain much insight in driving healthcare transformation through infocomm technology. Thank you.
