With TBS expanding the scale of the competition by hosting it outside of Japan in countries including China, Korea, India and Hong Kong, this competition will allow digital content creators to showcase their efforts on a regional level.

Ms Pam Hu, Director (Community and International Relations), MDA commented: “In line with Singapore’s push into the digital media space, DigiCon6+3 is a good platform to discover and foster the growth of digital content creators in Singapore. Through this competition, we hope to unleash the creativity and skills of Singaporeans in the area of digital content creation. This is aligned with our MediAction! objective to equip Singaporeans with media literacy skills and to upgrade themselves from being passive consumers into active “prosumers” - those who are able to consume content as well as produce media content, especially in this new media age.”

Besides DigiCon6+3, MDA supports the Global Junior Challenge, organised by the Digital Youth Foundation (Italy), and the Toon Boom Animation Festival, co-organised by the Canadian High Commission and Toon Boom Inc. These projects also aim to provide international exposure and opportunities for Singapore digital content creators and increase Singapore’s profile as an animation hub.

The awards ceremony for the Singapore leg of DigiCon6+3 will be held on 15 July, in conjunction with Cosfest 2007, an annual cosplay event.
