Kenneth Tan joins MDA as Chief Operating Officer

Former Golden Village Managing Director to head the Singapore Film Commission Singapore, 19 March 2008 –The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Kenneth Tan to its senior management team as Chief Operating Officer (MDA) and Director, Singapore Film Commission (SFC). Mr Tan replaces outgoing SFC Director Mr Man Shu Sum.

The former managing director of Golden Village Singapore and current Chairman of the Singapore Film Society is an avid champion of local films. During his time at Golden Village, he provided several independent local feature productions with opportunities for commercial release at Golden Village cinemas. Prior to his position at Golden Village, Mr Tan, 43, was the Chief Executive Officer of MediaCorp Radio and Chief Operating Officer of MediaCorp TV.

He also chairs the Promote Mandarin Council and Advisory Committee of the School of Film &Media Studies at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. In addition, he sits on the boards of several academic and cultural institutions.

As Chief Operating Officer, Mr Tan will oversee MDA’s efforts in ensuring that it continues to provide its partners and clients with highly effective and efficient services that are geared towards operational excellence. His empathy for the local film-making sector coupled with his years of international business experience will help to grow our film-making talents.

Mr Tan joins MDA on 2 May 2008.
