Co-location with Asia Television Forum will include added component on film and encourage cross-content collaboration

Reed Exhibitions (Reed) and the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) jointly announced the co-location of ScreenSingapore at the next edition of Asia Television Forum (ATF) from 5 to 7 December 2012 at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Ms Michelle Lim, Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions said: “As a content market for buying, selling, financing, distribution and co-production for all platforms, ATF is now into its 13th year and is firmly established as Asia’s foremost stage for international and regional media companies to meet, network and trade. To continuously evolve into a more comprehensive entertainment content marketplace, ATF is looking to expand its television-largely content to also include digital innovations, film and new media content, in tandem with the convergence of traditional and new-age entertainment content platforms. It therefore makes sense to co-locate ScreenSingapore with ATF.”

Greg Coote, Chairman of the Board of ScreenSingapore said: “The strategic coupling of ScreenSingapore with Asia’s leading entertainment TV content market will boost Asia’s production industry, and encourage more international collaboration. Be it film or TV, the delivery platforms of content today are exploding, evolving and all content is subject to great and exciting challenges. The creative talent crosses over, why not the markets?”

Mr Yeo Chun Cheng, Director (Broadcast, Animation, Film and Music), MDA, said: “To ensure the sustainability of a key film event such as ScreenSingapore, we look forward to working with Reed to organise the event on a commercial basis. The year-on-year growth of ATF is a strong indication of Asia’s rising role in the global content market and we believe that the co-location of both shows will promote growth in Asia’s film and television industry. It will also provide a stronger platform to showcase Asian film content, encourage more collaboration opportunities and generate greater buzz in the Asian media scene with exclusive screenings and premieres.”

Reed will lead in the conceptualisation as well as the organisation of ScreenSingapore as part of the year-end mega content event on a commercial basis. Participants can also look forward to a greater focus on the trade component as well as further opportunities in cross collaboration spanning the film and television sectors.

This year’s edition will also see greater consultation with the local industry to shape the programming of the event. More representatives from the local industry will be appointed to the Board of ScreenSingapore. The existing board members include Greg Coote (Chairman), Aubeck Kam, Ashok Amritraj, Shekhar Kapur, Michael J. Werner, Calvin Cheng, Dennis Davidson and Wayne Duband. More details will be announced in the coming months.
