Inaugural SG:D Techblazer Awards to Recognise Innovative Companies in Digital Tech & Propel them to greater heights

Jointly organised by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and SGTech (formerly SiTF), the awards recognise the nation’s best in tech innovation.

SINGAPORE – 4 June 2018: Nominations are now open for the inaugural SG:D Techblazer Awards - the nation’s highest accolade for tech innovation. The Awards aim to provide recognition and endorsement to Singapore-based organisations and companies that have exemplified the spirit of innovation in the development of new digital tech products and services, or the adoption of digital tech to achieve excellence.

The focus will be on digital technologies that can transform or disrupt, including tech disciplines such as but not limited to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IOT), and Cybersecurity. The scope of eligibility includes hardware, software applications and platform services.

The Awards seek to inspire greater innovation from the winning tech companies and propel them to greater heights in the region and internationally, with the hope that these companies will also blaze the trail for others.

The Awards - a merger of the bi-annual National Infocomm Awards (NIA) by then-Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and the annual SiTF Awards by then-Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) - will be held annually to strengthen and accelerate digital transformation efforts.

The Awards is timely as Singapore progresses as a Digital Economy. It signals the need for companies to leverage digital technologies to transform themselves into highly connected, innovative, agile businesses that can respond to the dynamic demands and increasing sophistication of the global landscape.

Said IMDA Chief Executive, Mr Tan Kiat How, “In our push to accelerate digital transformation in our economy, we aim to not only recognise innovative tech companies but to also provide them with greater access to opportunities to grow their businesses and improve their tech offerings. For the adopters, we hope their digital transformation journeys will inspire other companies to follow suit.”

“Innovation is the lifeblood of the digital age and a key driving force at the heart of Singapore's economy. Innovation brings forth unique ideas that change the way we live, connect and engage every day,” said Ms Shirley Wong, SGTech’s Co-Chair of Techblazer Awards Organising Committee. “The inaugural SG:D Techblazer Awards brings together two of the most prestigious recognitions for our innovators. It epitomizes the joint effort between government and industry to propel Singapore to the forefront of the digital frontier. Together we celebrate and ignite those with the courage to lead the way and blaze a trial in the tech industry."

The SG:D Techblazer Awards consist of three categories namely (i) MOST IMPACTFUL, (ii) MOST PROMISING and (iii) BEST ADOPTION. Through these categories, we hope to recognise the most innovative solutions and products that have created a wide impact to businesses and consumers; the most promising start-ups with the aim of furthering their digital capabilities, scaling up and expanding their network beyond local shores; and the best use or adoption of tech solutions to transform business operations.

Nominations for the SG:D Techblazer Awards are open till 31 July 2018, 2359hrs. Visit Techblazerawards.sg for more information.

The SG:D Techblazer Awards Prize Ceremony will be held on 7 November 2018.
