To take on responsibility of Ms Poh’s portfolio, Mr Howie Lau will be joining IMDA as Chief Industry Development Officer and Group Head of IDG. Currently serving his notice as Chief Marketing Officer at Starhub, he will join IMDA from 17 September 2018.

Ms Poh joined IMDA (then Media Development Authority) in 2014 and has twenty years of experience in industry development. Under her leadership, Ms Poh has enabled IDG to embark on initiatives to accelerate innovation and digital transformation, such as the Open Innovation Platform, PIXEL Studios and content development partnerships with global media companies like Disney and HBO. She also spearheaded efforts to grow promising tech start-ups by expanding the Accreditation@SGD programme. On manpower development, she played a key role to grow the digital workforce with the launch of the Skills Framework for ICT and enhancement of TechSkills Accelerator. Ms Poh also launched the Future of Media plan aimed to develop a future-ready media industry, and oversaw the review of the national Public Service Broadcasting strategies and initiatives.

Mr Lau has more than 25 years of experience across various global companies including Lenovo and IBM, in corporate development, formulating brand and marketing strategies, and driving global strategic partnerships. He is also the current President of the Singapore Computer Society’s Executive Council and sits on the Board for NUS Institute of System Science and Singapore Science Center. In his current capacity, he also serves on the IMDA TechSkills Accelerator Governing Council, which is responsible for increasing the employability of tech professionals in Singapore.

“Angie has been instrumental in many strategic partnerships and initiatives that IMDA has embarked on. She has a unique skillset, with broad and international experience and networks in media, content and technology. Leveraging on her experience and networks in the ICM industry, I believe Angie will strongly contribute to advancing Mediacorp’s growth efforts,” said Mr Tan Kiat How, Chief Executive, IMDA.

He added, “We are pleased to welcome Howie into the IMDA family.
