Singapore, 17 July 2000 | For Immediate Release

To accelerate the development of a vibrant infocomm industry and to foster mass adoption of cutting-edge technologies, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) is supporting a series of seminars organised by one of its Infocomm Local Industry Upgrading Programme or iLIUP industry partners. As part of the iLIUP activities, the seminars strive to introduce technology solutions to the various industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, banking and finance, media, and education.

The first technology solutions seminar organised by Lernout and Hauspie (L&H) will be held on 19 July 2000 and will focus on "Bringing Speech & Language Solutions to Healthcare". Interested parties can visit http://www.lhsl.com/sg/events/powered/ for registration and other details.

Spearheaded by IDA, the iLIUP promotes strategic and mutually beneficial partnerships between global infocomm MNCs and Singapore infocomm companies. iLIUP serves as a platform to promote and recognise infocomm industry innovation and excellence. As part of global expansion endeavours, iLIUP partnerships can bring about brand recognition, catalyse technology proliferation and geographical extension of market presence.

Mr Khoong Hock Yun, Assistant Chief Executive (Infocomm Development) at IDA says, "Our goal is to bridge the gap between technology developers and the users who can potentially reap benefits from such cutting-edge technologies through our local industry solution providers."

Moving forward, IDA looks forward to introducing more of such seminars from other technology partners under the iLIUP. "The infocomm industry plays a critical role in accelerating the delivery of solutions beneficial to every sector", added Mr Khoong.
