SGNIC Receives Applications for Accredited Registrar of '.SG' Domain Names

The Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) Pte Ltd has received six applications from parties interested to register as accredited registrars1 of '.sg' domain names. Today marks the closing date for the submission of application forms from interested applicants, following the introduction of SGNIC's Registrar Accreditation Scheme for the provision of '.sg' domain name registration services in SGNIC's shared registry system.

Applications were received from the following parties:
(a) Adicio Pte Ltd;
(b) Little Green Apples Pte Ltd;
(c) O.M.E. Solutions Pte Ltd;
(d) Pacific Internet Ltd;
(e) SingNet Pte Ltd; and
(f) Webvisions Pte Ltd.

SGNIC will evaluate the applications and announce the parties who will be eligible as accredited registrars by end July 2002. Accredited registrars will take over the domain name registration responsibilities by the 3rd quarter of this year. More information on the accreditation as SGNIC's registrar is posted on the SGNIC website at www.sgnic.sg/overview.html.

Notes to the Editor :

1 Accredited registrars will be able to provide domain name registration for the five-second level domains2 according to the registration policy set out by SGNIC. These are 'com.sg', 'org.sg', 'net.sg', 'edu.sg' and 'per.sg'.

2 Examples of second level domain names are 'com.sg' or 'net.sg', and third level domain names are 'nic.net.sg' or 'trustsg.org.sg'.
