Singapore's telecoms market will benefit when regulatory decisions on investigation findings and enforcement actions by Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) are made public from today. This move signifies one step towards greater transparency in an open market by promoting industry awareness of IDA's policy decisions and regulatory actions. It also aims to increase consumer awareness on telecom issues.

IDA will publicise regulatory decisions in implementing and enforcing of the Telecom Competition Code ("Code")1, Telecoms Act2 Licence Conditions and other relevant regulations enforceable by IDA. The extent of information published will vary depending on the severity of the regulatory contravention and the possible impact on consumers.

The categories of information and/ or statistics that will be made public may include:

a) Enforcement actions that are initiated against licensee(s) believed to have contravened any sections of the Code;

b) Inter-operator disputes arising from the implementation of Interconnection Agreement between licensees; and

c) Breach of Licence Conditions, and Regulations and Acts enforceable by IDA.
