Innovation Thrives On in Singapore - Over 300 Companies to Vie for the National Infocomm Awards

Over 347 nominations have been received for the first National Infocomm Awards (NIA), which closed on 15th December 2001. This underscores Singapore's reputation as an ideal location for the development and deployment of innovative infocomm technology.

Of these nominations, 229 were received as nominations in the Most Innovative Infocomm Product/Service category while 118 were received for the Most Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology award.

The nominees will now undergo a process of short listing and evaluation by the evaluation committees . Nominees for the awards will be evaluated based on their innovativeness, type of technology use, scale of implementation, market presence and value impact.

A panel of judges will make the final decision once short listed nominees have been identified by the evaluation committees. Winners of both awards will be announced in an awards presentation ceremony in April 2002.

The judging panel will comprise of several local and foreign prominent figures in the infocomm industry. Judges from the local Infocomm industry include:
