Singapore Showcases Broadband Capabilities at Milia 2002

Singapore will showcase its broadband and multimedia industry players at Milia 2002 in Cannes, France giving visitors the opportunity to experience the exciting developments in the Singapore interactive broadband multimedia scene.

Singapore will showcase its broadband and multimedia industry players at Milia 2002 in Cannes, France giving visitors the opportunity to experience the exciting developments in the Singapore interactive broadband multimedia scene.

Led by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore, the Singapore ONE Pavilion (Stand No: 14.02 - 16.09) will showcase locally developed innovative technologies, interactive broadband multimedia content for education, games and entertainment.

Singapore ONE (One Network for Everyone) is a national broadband initiative that comprises the rollout of a nation-wide broadband infrastructure and the development of interactive, broadband multimedia applications and services that can be delivered over the network. With 99% island-wide coverage, more than 450,000 users and over 350 partners, Singapore ONE offers a seamless broadband infrastructure for content delivery and the opportunities for European players to reach out to Asian markets.

Visitors to the pavilion can expect to view a snapshot of the best of Singapore's broadband players through real-time demonstrations including:

  • "Tomato Twins" an exciting children's television animation project working across multiple platforms of broadcast television, the Web and Wireless Mobile Devices, presented by Peach Blossom Media,
  • "Century of Three Kingdoms", a Massively Multi-player Role-Playing Game (MMRPG) based on one of the most famous periods in the history of ancient China, presented by GIME International.

A total of eight Singapore-based exhibitors will be present at the show, they are Cyber Business Network (CBN), DAIICHI Media, ei-Nets, GIME International, iT21, muvee Technologies, Peach Blossom Media, and Silicon Illusions (see Annex A (195.65KB) for detailed profile).

Located strategically at the crossroads of Asia, Singapore offers a vibrant and competitive infocomm environment, where broadband and multimedia industry players can leverage as a living lab for innovation in Asia.

With one of the highest bandwidth links to most of the key Asian markets and content localisation capabilities, Singapore is definitely a launchpad to all Asian markets.
