Singapore, 09 May 2004| For Immediate Release

Nominations for the second National Infocomm Awards (NIA) are now open. The second such award since 2001, NIA 2004 is the highest industry accolade for infocomm innovation in Singapore. Jointly organised by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), NIA 2004 serves two purposes. First, it provides a platform for recognising innovative products and services from infocomm companies in Singapore. Second, it gives recognition to private and public organisations which harness infocomm technologies to ensure their organisations' effectiveness and efficiency.

The Awards is supported by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore), the Ministry of Finance Singapore (MOF) and the Singapore Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (SVCA).

"The National Infocomm Awards is a powerful way to recognise those within the infocomm technology provider and user community who have shown innovation and creativity. IDA is happy to partner with the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation to co-organise NIA 2004," says CEO of IDA and Chairperson of NIA 2004, Mrs Tan Ching Yee.

"The National Infocomm Awards has helped to elevate Singapore's infocomm companies in the global marketplace. Past NIA winners like FairEx International Financial Systems, is one case in point. FairEx is one of the companies paving the way to offer complete financial solutions to markets worldwide," says Chairman of SiTF and Co-Chairperson of NIA 2004, Mr Saw Ken Wye.

Awards Categories

Awards will be given in two categories, with up to a maximum of three winners in each category.

The first category, Most Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology, recognises the innovative use of Infocomm technology among public and private organisations in Singapore. The second category, Most Innovative Infocomm Product/Service will recognise organisations registered in Singapore who are involved in the development or provision of innovative infocomm product(s) or service(s). Such product(s) / service(s) should preferably have attained some form of regional or international market presence.
