Innovation - A Major Theme at Singapore IDA Pavilion, Hall 2, Stand F09D

The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore will be leading a major assault on 3GSM Barcelona, with a variety of Singaporean wireless and GSM innovators represented within its pavilion. In a showcase of local innovation, the Singapore Pavilion at 3GSM 2006 will feature leading edge technology from Radixs, I'M Technologies, Telogic, Oswin Technology, Agis and Innvo Systems.

Some of the local innovations showcased at the Singapore Pavilion include:

* A universal mobile operating system that extends across any wireless network
* 3G USIM ecosystem
* Telecom application platforms and protocol analysers
* Turnkey communication device design
* Universal GIS applications
* Mass-market mobile software applications

"Singapore has long been the destination of choice for innovators in the Asia marketplace," commented Khoong Hock Yun, Assistant Chief Executive, Strategy & Manpower Development, Singapore IDA. "As one of the smallest, but most densely populated countries in the world, innovation is a central theme running throughout the lives of most residents," according to Khoong. "Singapore not only fosters innovation, we are also in a better position than anyone else in the Asia region to fully understand it and be able to apply it to practical everyday activities," he added.

In what is regarded as a microcosm of the Asia region, Singapore has both the infrastructure and talent pool to support its role as a major wireless innovation hub. Currently, Singapore can offer over 700 public wireless hotspots throughout cafes, public buildings and fast food outlets nationwide. Over 200 of these are located within Singapore's Central Business District (CBD). This translates into more than 33 hotspots per square kilometer within the CBD or one hotspot every square kilometer. Currently, the nation's technology talent pool accounts for over 5% of the nation's available workforce at 108,000.

Businesses represented within the Singapore IDA Pavilion at 3GSM Barcelona include AGIS Pte Ltd; I'M Technologies Limited, Innvo Systems Pte Ltd, Oswin Technology Pte Ltd, Radixs Pte Ltd and Telogic Pte Ltd (See Annex A (34.00KB)).

Singapore IDA will also be offering further details of a variety of Singaporean innovators who will not be in attendance at 3GSM, including Mozat, Fatte Telecom, ComiAsia, Mobile Credit Payment, Pacific Internet, Clearhub and NexGen Studio.
