The diversity of the nominations made this year's NIA particularly special. They come from a wide spectrum of key sectors, from financial and healthcare, to logistics, education, human resource and even the property market. This clearly showed that both infocomm and non-infocomm companies have harnessed the power of innovative infocomm technologies to enhance productivity and overall competitiveness in this digital age.

Small local companies have also made their presence felt at this year's Awards. In the "Most Innovative Infocomm Product/Service" category, over 90% of submissions were from local SMEs offering specialised infocomm solutions and services targeting a broad spectrum of end users. The awards also saw some impressive nominations, especially from the Digital Media and Entertainment space.

In general, all nominations this year exhibited an understanding that innovation is central to their business strategy, operations and growth. Besides showing their abilities to develop and implement innovative infocomm products and services, the winners also showed that by harnessing the potential and power of innovation, they have managed to revolutionise their companies' business processes to create an impact that is beneficial for all.

Commenting on the NIA submissions this year, Mr Stephen Lim, Chairman of SiTF and Co-Chair of NIA 2006 said, "All the nominations this year have used innovative technologies to revolutionise their company's or organisation's business processes - exemplifying a good clear understanding that innovation is central to their business strategy, operations and growth. This paints a bright promising future for our infocomm industry."

There were a total 120 top quality nominations this year. Nominees for the awards were evaluated based on the innovativeness of their entries and technology use, scale of implementation, market presence and value impact.
