Yangon, Myanmar / Singapore, 18 October 2013 | For Immediate Release

As Myanmar launches into the global economic scene, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) sees great potential to establish long-term collaboration with the country to develop and grow its ICT sector. With this vision in mind, IDA will be leading a delegation of seven Singapore ICT companies at the third edition of the International Myanmar ICT Exhibition which is being held at Tatmadaw Hall, Yangon, from 17 to 19 October 2013.

The delegation will exhibit under the Infocomm Singapore pavilion where meetings between the Singapore ICT companies and relevant stakeholders will be facilitated to discuss the Myanmar ICT landscape and potential partnerships, as well as a networking session with the local business sector. The delegation includes companies covering solutions for key economic sectors and cloud based innovation for businesses. Two companies of the delegation, ST Electronics (Training & Simulation), a leading provider of simulation, edutainment, training services and solutions, and 2C2P, a comprehensive payment solutions provider, have already forged collaboration agreements with Myanmar companies with the support of IDA and will look to build on their progress in the market. Please refer to Annex A (37.69KB) for the profile of the seven companies.

Mr Steve Leonard, Executive Deputy Chairman, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore said, "IDA firmly believes in Myanmar's growth prospects and is happy to help find ways to support the development of Myanmar's ICT services as an enabler for economic growth. With the support of International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), we are pleased to lead the Singapore delegation at this year's International Myanmar ICT Exhibition. IDA has a great deal of experience in the Singapore ICT sector to share at this forum, and we also want to help Singapore ICT companies explore and develop partnerships to participate in the growth opportunities of Myanmar."

With a population of more than 60 million people, the International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that the Myanmar IT market will stand at US$110.51 million in 2011 and will reach US$233.556 million by 2016, achieving a double-digit compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.1%. Due to its population density, Yangon and Mandalay are the two leading IT hubs, as both market-entry and consumption destinations in the next few years1.

"As IDA's FutureSchools@Singapore partner, ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) will work closely with our Myanmar partner, the Nay Kyel Oo Group of Companies, to offer innovative educational and edutainment solutions to Myanmar. Leveraging our eLearning solutions and our partner's marketing network, we aim to develop a market for educational and edutainment systems in Myanmar which will eventually benefit Myanmar's youths," said Mr Jeremy Foo, Senior Vice President/General Manager, ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd."

Mr. Aung Kyaw Moe, Founder and CEO, 2C2P (stands for Cash and Card Payment Processor), added "As a payment solutions provider focused on transforming millions of everyday payments in Asia Pacific, 2C2P is keen to share our unique understanding of Southeast Asia e-commerce payment needs at the International Myanmar ICT Exhibition 2013. We are already establishing partnerships with Myanmar financial institutions and we hope to expand our support for the sector in the years to come."

To be held from 17-19 October 2013, the International Myanmar ICT Exhibition 2013 aims to be a platform for ICT companies to explore business opportunities in Myanmar. Global, regional, and local ICT companies will come together to showcase their products and also exchange their knowledge and expertise.
