Exemption of Exhibition License for G and PG Films

Dated: 27 February 2001

The Minister for Information and The Arts has with effect from 1 March 2001, exempted the exhibition of films at public places from licensing requirements under the Films Act. The exemption will apply to all G and PG films rated by the Films and Publications Dept (FPD). Clubs, hospitals, hotels and religious organisations which are currently licensed have been informed of this exemption.

Exhibitors of R(A) and NC 16 films will still need to obtain a licence from FPD under the Films Act.

This exemption is the latest in the Department’s on-going review to better facilitate the businesses of the film and publication industries and simplify procedures.

For clarification, please contact FPD at Tel: 3722801.
