SBA Organises Singapore's First Pavilion at MIPCOM 2001, Cannes, France

Dated: 1 October 2001

The Singapore Broadcasting Authority (SBA), together with its industry partners, is organising the first Singapore Pavilion to market Singapore's TV programmes and promote Singapore's TV production capabilities at MIPCOM 2001 for the first time.

MIPCOM 2001 will be held in Cannes, France from 8 to 12 October 2001. Organised by Reed Midem Organisation, MIPCOM is a leading annual trade market reserved for professionals, which focuses on content and programming for the TV industry worldwide. Held since 1985, MIPCOM has now served the international TV industry for 17 years.

On works from Singapore at MIPCOM, Mr Lim Hock Chuan, Chief Executive Officer, SBA, said, "MIPCOM 2001 is recognised and endorsed by the industry as one of the world's main TV programme markets. Through our participation in this event, we hope to expose Singapore-made productions to the world's stage and enhance our position as a producer of quality content for the broadcasting industry in the region and beyond."

The 70-square metre Singapore Pavilion will bring Singapore TV production companies together as a group to register Singapore's presence, and expose Singapore-produced TV programmes to an international marketplace. It is hoped that these productions will travel far beyond Singapore's shores and will appeal to an international audience with its strong and uniquely Asian content.

Located at stand T20 at the Azur Village, the Singapore Pavilion will feature, apart from SBA, four local companies namely: e-Brilliant Pte Ltd, Media Corporation of Singapore, Starts Corporation Pte Ltd and 7G Studios Pte Ltd. These companies will showcase a diverse range of content ranging from exciting animation works to quality and compelling dramas. A profile of these organisations is attached at Annex A.
