SBA Commissions Two Info-ed Programmes on MediaCorpTV Channel 5 and Kids Central

The Singapore Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has commissioned three info-educational programmes at a total cost of $614,000. They are Hobby TV on Kids Central, Science City and Whole New Game Plan on MediaCorp TV Channel 5.


Hobby TV
Hobby TV will feature interesting hobbies that children have, which are both the conventional as well as the less known. Hobbies featured include those that can be done indoors like stamp collecting, aircraft modelling and performing magic tricks, as well outdoor activities like horse riding, kite-flying and sand sculpting. This six-episode series produced by local production house The Moving Visuals Company, will debut on Kids Central on Saturday, from 13 April to 18 May 2002 at 1.30pm.

Science City
This 13-episode series will showcase Singapore as a place for life sciences and offers information that is easy for the man on the street to understand. Packed with colourful information and told in the form of animation and human-interest stories, hot topics such as cloning and stem cells will be discussed by both experts and lay people. Science City is produced by Naga Films and presented by Ida Bachtiar. It will make its debut on MediaCorp Channel 5 on Friday, 26 April to 19 July 2002 at 7pm.

Whole New Game Plan
Whole New Game Plan is a reality-based programme accompanying a group of people from all walks of life on their journey of economic survival, and which shows how they cope with the recession. Over the course of the 13 weeks this series is shown, viewers will get to follow these people who are in different phases of life and industries through the highs and lows of their lives. They will get to see how these people manage the crisis from finding a new job to stretching the dollar and coping emotionally with the downturn. The 13-episode is produced by the local production house, The Right Angle Media. It will make its debut on MediaCorp TV Channel 5 every Saturday, from 27 April to 20 July 2002 at 7pm.
